Tasting - Finca del Castillo Tempranillo

Name - Finca del Castillo Tempranillo
Variety - 100% Tempranillo
Region - La Mancha
Country - Spain
Year - 2011
Price - $4.95

Shop review - Rooty, spicy and baked on the nose, with aromas that lean towards raisin. The palate is more gritty and acidic, with raisin, cola, and spicy flavors. Darkens up on the finish, which is long and peppery, with adequate juiciness and final note of tomato.

My Review - The color of this wine is deep red, classic red wine color, darker than the Gamay last tasted. The wine had an awkward fruity scent, not typical berry but more tomato like. The tasting was hard to pin down at first I thought it was rusty, or charred but settled on smokey with a light lingering flavor.

I tasted this on its own with no food.
